A fire broke out today at the largest market for agricultural products in the world - in a suburb of Paris, AP reported.

Firefighters are trying to contain the flames in a warehouse at the huge market, which supplies millions of people in the French capital and the region with much of the fresh food they eat.

Footage posted on social media showed a column of dark smoke billowing high up.

The fire department urged people to stay away from Rungy, the southern suburb of Paris where the market, which is billed as the largest of its kind in the world, is located.

Forest fires continue to rage across southwestern France, more people are being evacuated
