Angry over the police action in the murder of a 19-year-old receptionist working at a resort in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, villagers on Sunday blocked the Srinagar-Kedarnath highway and the victim's family refused to perform the last rites of the girl.

The primary post-mortem report has arrived in the murder case of a girl who took place at Vantara Resort in Yamkeshwar block of Rishikesh.

In this report many marks of injuries have been found on the girl's body.

Important information related to the case:

  • The family members of the girl said that they will not perform her last rites till the final postmortem report comes.

  • In a report released by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, it has been said that pre-death marks have been found on the body of the girl.

    This indicates that he was hit with a blunt-edged object.

  • However, the preliminary report said that the death was due to drowning.

    The girl's body was recovered from the Chila canal near Rishikesh on Saturday.

    She was missing since six days before this.

  • The brother of the deceased girl said that the preliminary report did not give details.

    He said that efforts are being made to destroy the evidence in the demolition proceedings at the resort where Ankita used to work.

  • The resort to which this matter is related is owned by Pulkit Arya, son of BJP leader Vinod Arya of Haridwar.

    The police have arrested Pulkit and two other employees in this case.
