It is about "Gazprombank"

, through which gas payments are made.

It is this financial institution that can become the first candidate for disconnection from SWIFT in the eighth package of EU sanctions.

Bloomberg writes about this with reference to diplomats familiar with the situation.

The Baltic states, Ireland and Poland propose to take such measures.

These states also propose to include the following points in the eighth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation:

  • a ban on the purchase of compressed natural gas in Russia,

  • limit cooperation in nuclear energy,

  • to sanction insurance services for the supply of dollar banknotes (the supplies themselves have been prohibited since the beginning of March);

  • extend the ban on entry to EU ports for Russian vessels;

  • new sanctions against propaganda media.

The European Union is also considering strengthening

technological sanctions against Russia, a ban on the supply of software and cyber security tools, a full embargo on diamonds and steel, and restrictions on the real estate market.

It is noted that agreements with companies and citizens of the Russian Federation who are not residents of one of the EU countries may be subject to sanctions.

The heads of foreign affairs of the EU countries are to consider the eighth package of sanctions against Russia at a meeting in Prague on October 6-7.

We remind you that the eighth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation may also include limiting the price of oil.
