None of the Ukrainian defenders who were in Russian captivity saw representatives of the

Red Cross

Human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets told about it.

According to him, Ukraine wants to raise the issue of non-fulfillment of the mandate of the ICRC regarding meetings with prisoners of war.

"None of the prisoners of war we released saw a representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross. This is a violation. In my opinion, this is a failure to fulfill the mandate of the ICRC, and we should speak about it publicly," he said.

Lubinets added that he plans to meet with the leadership of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva in early October.

The ombudsman emphasized that representatives of the ICRC undertook obligations towards the defenders of Mariupol, and their mandate forces Russia to comply with the Geneva Conventions.

"They were present during the exit of our heroes from Azovstal in Mariupol and, in accordance with their mandates, undertook to check this, to follow this, to monitor this situation. We saw that this did not happen at all" - he summarized.

It will be recalled that

Ukraine returned the defenders of Mariupol from Russian captivity, among them are soldiers of "Azov" (photo).

200 of our heroes were exchanged for Putin's godfather Viktor Medvedchuk, and the commanders of "Azovstal" - for 55 occupiers.
