The deputy mayor specified that the announced public order is the next stage of the procedure for the construction of the monument.

After its implementation, the finished technical project will be discussed by an Expert Council at the Ministry of Culture.

After the eventual positive opinion, preparations for the actual construction of the monument will begin.

According to Poyraz, this will happen next year.

The idea for the construction of the monument in the city, bearing the name of the proto-Bulgarian ruler, was the "Civil Association Kubrat".

The initiative to build the monument began in 2016. We harnessed all our strength to realize this long-standing dream and I believe it will become a reality, said the secretary of the association Svetlomir Kirov.

He recalled that the monument will be made according to the project of sculpture Lubomir Dobrev.

The one approved in the competition for a memorial to the great khan envisages a composition over four meters high.

It will consist of a pedestal with a relief sign used as the coat of arms of the Khan Dulo dynasty, a figural composition of Khan Kubrat on horseback and seven massive stone slabs with runes of the proto-Bulgarian calendar carved on them.

The monument will be installed opposite the old entrance of the Kubrat municipality building.
