Putin threatens nuclear weapons when things don't go according to plan in Russia.

This is a sign of weakness and fear.

This opinion was expressed by military expert Oleksandr Musienko in a comment on TSN.ua.

"As soon as Russia starts talking about nuclear weapons, it means that they do not achieve the goals that they wanted, or they are defeated. Putin first spoke about nuclear weapons at the end of February, when they did not manage to capture Kyiv quickly and all attacks were repelled. At that time, he called the Russian Defense Minister Shoigu and the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Gerasimov to a meeting and gave the order to bring the nuclear deterrent forces to full combat readiness," the expert said.

After that, the statements of many Russian politicians began to be heard, in particular Medvedev, who wrote about the "doomsday" regarding Crimea and other nonsense about the "hated West" that he "is going to destroy."

Then Lavrov spoke about the fact that if the West continues to supply Ukraine with weapons, this means that Russia "may respond."

"Actually, it reaches the point of absurdity when the children of this so-called "Kremlin elite" study in the USA, Britain and other countries, or when they have businesses, assets, accounts there, and they threaten these countries with destruction," Musienko noted.

Now, the expert says, Putin has started threatening again to intimidate and blackmail the West.

"This is a sign of weakness, this is blackmail and pressure on the West. Everyone knows that he (Putin - ed.) still has this weapon. He sometimes has the appearance of a not quite adequate person who has maniacal ambitions - he is obsessed with the neo-imperial idea. Some people in the West are wary of this, so Putin is looking for "pain points" that can be hit in this way," the expert explained.

At the same time, Musienko emphasized that Ukraine is not afraid of the Russian dictator.

"No one from the Ukrainian leadership said: 'Oh, just a little, what will happen.' We understand who is fighting against us, and we understand all the risks," Musienko emphasized.

In addition, the expert recalled that Lukashenko had repeatedly spoken about nuclear weapons.

They said that it is necessary to place nuclear warheads on the territory of Belarus, because NATO planes are allegedly flying and moderating a nuclear strike.

At the same time, according to the expert, the only plans that the Soviet Union, and then Russia, had regarding a nuclear strike concerned Poland, Lithuania or the direction further north.

"Since 2066, Russia has conducted a series of exercises during which (with the involvement of Belarus) tactical nuclear strikes on Warsaw and Copenhagen were simulated. Then it expanded, decreased, but in any case the points for nuclear strikes were located along this line from Kaliningrad to the northeast or to the west. Carriers of tactical nuclear charges are located in Kaliningrad. These are Iskander missiles," Musienko said.

Now the expert doubts that the Russians have changed the points of potential nuclear strikes, because Russia's plan is to threaten NATO countries and Europe with nuclear weapons.

The Russian Federation placed its nuclear warheads right in the middle of Europe in Kaliningrad and continues to blackmail the world.

"Lukashenka is being framed in this situation. If there is an aircraft on the territory of Belarus that has a nuclear warhead, as Lukashenka wants, then a retaliatory strike from NATO or Europe may not be on the territory of Russia, but on the territory of Belarus, which is probably convenient and Putin. He does not feel sorry for Lukashenka," the expert says.

Currently, for Ukraine, the risks of a nuclear attack exist mainly in theory.

"As for Ukraine, theoretically there are risks, but no practical preparations for a nuclear strike are visible. These (threats - ed.) are primarily directed at the West, so that the West will be scared, afraid of a nuclear war and could reduce support for Ukraine, or talk to the Ukrainian leadership about compromises and a truce with the Russian Federation," the expert emphasized.
