New Delhi:

In Bihar, two top leaders of the Grand Alliance, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Sunday evening.

It will be his first meeting with Sonia Gandhi after six years.

Sources said that both the leaders of Bihar expected that Rahul Gandhi would also be present in this meeting.

But these days Rahul Gandhi is in Kerala, who is leading the Congress's India Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

Let us tell you that the last meeting of Nitish Kumar and Sonia Gandhi was in an iftar before the Bihar elections in 2015.

The Bihar chief minister had met Rahul Gandhi earlier this month during his last visit to Delhi.

At that time Sonia Gandhi was abroad for treatment.

Sources say that it will be a courtesy call.

Some serious topics are also likely to be discussed in this, including taking the Grand Alliance to the national level.

That possibility is being explored by leaders in Bihar, especially Nitish Kumar working to unite the opposition against the BJP ahead of the 2024 national election.

This meeting is also considered important because the Congress is preparing to choose its next president.

The nomination process for the elections has started from Thursday.

Shashi Tharoor and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot are being considered as the prime candidates in the race for the post.

However, many leaders including Manish Tewari and Digvijay Singh have made up their mind to contest for this post.

Let us tell you that during his last visit to Delhi, Nitish Kumar had met most of the prominent opposition leaders.

The list included Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Nationalist Congress chief Sharad Pawar, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Left leaders.
