Andrzej Pachobut

was transferred to the pre-trial detention center in Hrodna, BAJ reports.

Presumably, the so-called "Polish case" in which the journalist is accused will be heard in Hrodna.

Andrzej Pachobut has been behind bars for 1.5 years.

The prisoner has stomach problems, he is in pain from eating too much.

It was reported that he has lost a lot of weight, because he eats almost nothing, except diet prison porridge.

recently commented on the situation with Andrzej Pachobut, a released journalist and activist of the unofficial Union of Poles of Belarus:

"Poland has absolutely not come to terms with and will never come to terms with the violation of human rights or with the fact that representatives of the Polish minority are treated as hostages in Belarus.

Who is Andrzej Pachobut

  • Andrzej Pachobut

    is a well-known journalist and public figure, a member of the unregistered Union of Poles of Belarus.

  • Born on April 17, 1973 in Velika Berestavitsa (Horodna region).

    He is 48 years old.

    Lives in Hrodna.

    Married, two children: the eldest daughter studies at the medical university in Hrodna, the youngest son goes to school.

  • In 2002, he entered journalism.

    He worked in the first independent city newspapers "Pagonia", "Dzen", "Miestsovy Chas", the republican newspaper "Narodnaya Volya", the St. Petersburg newspaper in Polish Głos znad Niemna ("Voice from above Nieman").

    He was the editor of the magazine Magazyn Polski na ochodźstwie of St. Petersburg, a correspondent of the major Polish publication Gazeta Wyborcza.

    He dealt with topics related to the history of the special services of the USSR, the anti-Soviet resistance in Western Belarus, and the Home Army.

  • On March 25, 2021, Andrei Pachobut was detained after they searched him.

    The Prosecutor General's Office opened this case "for inciting religious and national enmity" (Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code) against the head of the Union of Poles of Belarus Anzhalika Boris and other persons.
