The European Union (EU) will prepare new sanctions against Moscow and increase its military support to Ukraine in response to the Russian President's decision to declare partial mobilization.

APA reports that Joseph Borrell, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Affairs, told journalists.

"We will continue our military support by providing arms to Ukraine, increase this assistance and adopt new restrictive measures against Russia," Borrell told reporters at the conclusion of the emergency meeting of high-level EU diplomats within the framework of the UN General Assembly in New York.

He stressed that this step of Russia will not change the determination of the EU to stand by Ukraine and fully support its ability to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Borrell confirmed that the EU will continue to finance the delivery of arms to Ukraine through the European Peace Fund.

According to Borrell, who did not disclose specific details, a new package of sanctions that will affect the Russian economy will be discussed, which will include sanctions related to the field of technology, and at the same time, new individuals are expected to be sanctioned.

According to Politico, the sanctions plan includes limiting the price of Russian oil and banning the import of luxury goods from Russia.

EU ambassadors are expected to discuss the details of the sanctions on September 23.

It should be noted that since Russia started its war against Ukraine, the bloc has provided a total of 2.5 billion euros ($2.5 billion) in military aid to Ukraine, including lethal weapons, as well as personal protective equipment, first aid kits and fuel.

The EU also imposed seven sanctions packages against Russia.
