British Prime Minister Liz Truss met with French President Emmanuel Macron today at the UN General Assembly in New York, according to APA's British bureau, referring to Downing Street.


The leaders welcomed the recent progress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and agreed on the importance of supporting Ukraine militarily, economically and politically.



Prime Minister and President Macron stressed the importance of working together to end dependence on Russian energy and strengthen energy security:

"We need to show Putin that his economic threats to energy and food supplies will not materialize," Downing Street said in a statement.



Leaders agreed to expand UK-France energy cooperation to reduce volatility and costs on the world market.
