The State Duma of Russia has approved in the second and third reading the draft law, which includes changes to the Criminal Code, including the concepts of "mobilization", "martial law", "time of war" and "armed conflict", as well as strengthening the responsibility for crimes related to these periods.

APA's Moscow correspondent informs that the initiative of changes to the legislation was prepared by deputies of all factions of the State Duma, as well as senators Andrey Klishas and Olga Kovitidi.

According to the changes made to the legislator, it is proposed to punish up to ten years of imprisonment for non-appearance in the military service due to call-up or desertion.

"Arbitrarily leaving the military unit or the place of service during the period of mobilization or martial law, wartime or armed conflict, or during military operations, by a military serviceman who is conscripted for military service or under a contract, during that period, as well as valid reasons Failure to report to the service on time for more than one month is punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years," the text of the amendments reads.

Also, it is envisaged to impose up to five years of imprisonment for the destruction of weapons during war, and up to 15 years for looting during martial law.

In addition, the text of the bill states that Russians called up for reserve training will be punished for these crimes on the same basis as contract soldiers and conscripts.
