ED summons AAP's MCD election in-charge Durgesh Pathak

New Delhi:

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Aam Aadmi Party MLA Durgesh Pathak for about 11 hours in relation to the government's MLA Durgesh Pathak (Excise Policy).

Let us tell you that Durgesh Pathak was also summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning regarding the liquor policy.

However, after this, the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party raised questions on the questioning of the ED.

Pathak (34) reached the federal agency's office at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in central Delhi at around 11 am for questioning.

He came out of the ED office at around 8.40 pm and did not talk to the media persons waiting there.

The AAP took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the move was not aimed at checking the Delhi Excise Policy but the rising political graph of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the municipal elections in the national capital.

Official sources said that the statement of MLA Pathak from Rajendra Nagar assembly constituency is being recorded under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Sources said Pathak has been questioned about his role in the case and his alleged relationship with Vijay Nair, a former CEO of an entertainment and event management company and accused in the case.

The ED had also probed Pathak's phone after the first round of raids on September 6.

Last week, the agency had launched the second phase of the raids and conducted raids at more than 40 places in different states.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia questioned the summons sent to Pathak and asked whether the agency was targeting the liquor policy or the MCD elections.

"It is believed that he will be questioned for his role in the case and his alleged links with Vijay Nair, former CEO of an entertainment and event management company," he said.

Nair is an accused in this case.

Sisodia tweeted, "ED has summoned AAP's MCD election in-charge Durgesh Pathak today.

What does our MCD election in-charge have to do with the excise policy of the Delhi government?

Is liquor policy on their target or MCD elections?"

Last week, the ED had raided 40 places across the country in connection with the excise policy 2021-22 of the Arvind Kejriwal government.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in the policy and named Sisodia as an accused.

The Kejriwal government appointed Lieutenant Governor V.K.

The policy was withdrawn in July after Saxena recommended a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the policy.
