The spokesman of the caretaker government, Anton Kutev, was sentenced at first instance to pay BGN 50,000 compensation for non-property damages to the former regional minister from GERB Nikolay Nankov

Nikolay Nankov is the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works until August 31, 2018. He is, reported aktualno.com.

This was decided by the Sofia City Court (SGC).

Daniela Hristova from the SGS also ruled that Kutev must pay the costs of the case in the amount of BGN 8,644

The lawsuit was filed by Nankov because of Kutev's accusations from 2021, when he said on the sidelines of the parliament that the former minister (2017-2018) had signed contracts for more than 1 billion leva, which were not secured by the Law on State budget.

This, according to Anton Kutev, who was also the spokesman of the previous office, is "something that should reach the prosecutor's office, because it is a form of fraud."

Nikolay Nankov will judge Anton Kutev

Nankov submitted an application to the court that he had become the object of "public vilification as a result of published false information, slander and insults" uttered by Kutev in front of "a number of media".

Then the spokesperson of the official office even stated that the protests of the builders for unpaid funds from current repairs should be redirected from the home of Boyko Borisov to that of Nankov.

The SGS accepted that with the speech in the National Assembly, Kutev affected the authority of the former minister in his capacity as a politician with an "impeccable public image", as he unfoundedly questioned the expert authority of Hankov as a person with experience and education, and thus caused severe psychological harm to me. and healthy experiences.

In total, the former minister suffered damages in three spheres - political, professional and personal.

According to the court, Nankov's claim has been proven and must be respected.

The testimony of Anton Kutev's witnesses is considered unreliable.

"Such behavior (of Anton Kutev) represents an expression of anarchist intentions, which the court not only does not tolerate, but also perceives as political primitivism," the decision also states.

The former minister from GERB denies that he signed contracts for current repairs and that he cheated contractors on projects of national importance.

He claims that he did not violate the Law on the state budget and did not sign financially unsecured contracts.

The decision of the SGS is not final and can be appealed to the Sofia Court of Appeal.
