Listen to the news

Today, Burgas is the center of agency journalism in Southeast Europe thanks to all of you who represent and work not just for your media, but for the people.

Because the news is written by the journalists, but it "belongs" to the citizens.

The truth is owed to society and you are the ones who are called to seek it and defend it.

This is stated by President Rumen Radev

Rumen Georgiev Radev is a Bulgarian military man, major general from the reserve.

Former commander of in his greeting to the participants in the General Assembly of the Association of Balkan Information Agencies and Information Agencies from Southeast Europe, which is being held in Burgas and which is hosted by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA).

The greeting was read in the forum.

"When I realized the theme of your forum, I remembered that aphoristic phrase that 'A lie can go around the world while the truth is still tying its shoes.'

In the 21st century, when the channels of information multiply daily, the attempts of lies and manipulation to reach more people are facilitated, and political, corporate, economic interests take advantage of this.

Thus, real news often gives way to truth and public interest.

This new reality makes the mission of journalists even more responsible and difficult – not just to convey the information, but to present what is happening in context, distinguishing the facts from their interpretations, recalling the background.

I believe that it is with the joint efforts of the agency's journalists, upholding the essentiality of facts and professional standards for accurate and objective presentation of information, that the lie can be invalidated before it travels around the world," the head of state said.

Radev revealed what he expects from the next government - he declared it a national priority

"Today's 30th General Assembly is also important because of the opportunity for journalists from 12 Balkan countries to directly exchange experience and information, as is the idea of the "Balkan News Room" as a common space for news from the countries of Southeast Europe.

This initiative is valuable because no matter how close we, the Balkan peoples, are, we must maintain our ties and understand each other without foreign mediation.

Because partners and friends do not need mediators to be strong and united, so that we know the truth", the address of President Rumen Radev also states
