Cleaning actions will be held as part of "Caspian Week".

APA reports that Sayyara Mammadova, head of the Department of Environmental Awareness and Public Relations of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, said that the coastal zone and water area of the Caspian Sea are continuously polluted, especially in the summer months.

Sometimes people do not observe cleanliness while organizing their vacations, they pollute the surroundings and the seashore with waste.

He added that as a result of this careless and careless approach to the environment of the Caspian Sea, it is precisely people themselves who face negative effects, sanitary rules are violated, and nature is also damaged.

"Pollution occurs mostly by throwing single-use plastic waste around. Plastic waste not only leads to the destruction of the ecological condition of the areas and the creation of unsanitary conditions, but also has a negative impact on the bioresources of the Caspian Sea."

According to S. Mammadova, in order to prevent such situations, regular cleaning campaigns and various cleaning actions are organized on the coastal strips:

"This year, we will continue the cleaning actions held within the framework of the "Caspian Week", which is celebrated every year in the last week of September, in all the coastal areas of the country.

Our intention is to promote cleanliness in the coastal areas of inland water basins, to prevent the pollution of coastal areas with plastic and household waste, and to achieve the cleanliness of the country's coastal areas by involving a wider audience in these activities."

The official of the ministry said that "International Maritime Day", which is held every year in the last week of September, was established by the decision of the 10th session of the Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1978 in order to focus the attention of the world community on the protection of water bodies and its bioresources.
