The police in Varna have detained a 49-year-old man for murder, the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the seaside city, Senior Commissioner Atanas Mihov, announced at a briefing, quoted by BTA.

He explained that on September 19 at around 0:20 a.m. a passing citizen reported that he saw a bloodied man lying in a helpless state in an area above the city.

The man's death was confirmed by the "Ambulance" team.

Search operations were carried out, as a result of which it was established that it was a 55-year-old man from the city.

In less than 24 hours, the perpetrator was found and arrested.

He is a criminal, 49 years old, known to the police, convicted, Mihov said.

The man was detained for 24 hours.

According to the director of the police, the motives were hooliganism - obstruction, a fight, and subsequently the man died of blood loss.

The murdered man was stabbed.

A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated in the case, and the work on fully proving the crime continues under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in the city.
