Revenues in the state budget continued to grow, which expanded much-needed fiscal space for the Greek government.

More specifically, on Friday the Ministry of Finance published a monthly report on the implementation of the budget, which showed that budget revenues exceeded the set goals by 1.4 billion euros, or by 5.6 billion euros for the period January-August, it was reported especially for BTA agency ANA-MPA.

Commenting on this development, Deputy Minister Theodore Skilakakis stated: "In August, tax revenues were significantly over-achieved, exceeding targets by 32.6%. These results are in line with the high rates of economic growth this year, and the preliminary collection of revenues for the coming months contributes to the security of the applied fiscal flow in an uncertain period."

The state budget, based on preliminary data on a cash basis, showed a deficit of 4.114 billion euros for the eight months, against the budget target of a deficit of 9.992 billion euros and after a deficit of 10.519 billion euros for the same period last year.

The primary result showed a surplus of €10 million, against a primary deficit target of €5.942 billion and after a primary deficit of €6.381 billion in the same period in 2021.

Net income amounted to EUR 39.222 billion, which is 17% more than the set goals, and regular income - to EUR 42.797 billion, which is 17.5% more than the set goals.

Tax revenues amounted to 35.844 billion euros, which is 18.6% more than the set goals.

Tax declarations amount to EUR 3.575 billion, which is EUR 704 million more than planned.

Revenues under the Public Investment Program amounted to EUR 1.921 billion, which is EUR 849 million less than planned.

State budget expenditures amounted to 43.336 billion euros in the January-August period, which is 193 million euros less than the targets and 1.869 billion euros less than in the same period of 2021, BTA reported.

In August, net revenues were €5.519 billion, €882 million above monthly targets, and regular budget revenues were €5.945 billion, €827 million above targets.

Tax revenues amounted to €5.695 billion, 32.6% above target, tax returns amounted to €426 million, €55 million below target, and revenues from the Public investments were 143 million euros, which is 467 million euros less than the target values.
