Jaipur:
Rajasthan Congress has passed a resolution to make Rahul Gandhi the party president.
The Rajasthan Congress has also authorized the party high command to appoint the state unit chief of the party and members of the All India Congress Committee.
Rajasthan has become the first state to do so.
This proposal was presented by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in a meeting of the party.
This proposal has come after there was speculation that Ashok Gehlot could be the choice of top leaders of the party for the post of Congress President.
However, Ashok Gehlot is reportedly unwilling to take a bigger responsibility or move out of Jaipur.
The meeting of the newly elected representatives of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee was held at the state Congress headquarters on Saturday.
Rajendra Singh Kumpawat, the state election officer appointed for the organization elections, took this meeting.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot proposed that the State President of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee and AICC delegates from Rajasthan should be selected by the Congress President.
State President Govind Singh Dotasra supported the proposal presented by Gehlot and Congress Working Committee member Raghuveer Meena approved it.
This resolution was unanimously passed by all the 400 newly elected delegates of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee.
The proposal was submitted to the State Election Officer Rajendra Singh Kumpawat to be presented in the All India Congress Committee.
