On September 15 at 8:50 a.m., 4 Sri Lankan citizens attempted to cross the state border from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Iran in the service area of ​​the border outpost located near the first Shahsevan village of the Beylagan district of the "Horadiz" border detachment of the State Border Service. Inthirakumar Dishanth born in 2002, Seevarathnam Vijayakumar born in 1981, Ukenthiran Sayanthan born in 1993 and Ramachandran Thilakshan born in 1999 were detained as border violators.

According to the information provided to APA by the State Border Service (SBS), three of the detained persons officially arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan on a Doha-Baku flight from Qatar, and one from the United Arab Emirates on a Dubai-Baku flight.

During the investigation, it was determined that the citizens of Sri Lanka intend to migrate to one of the European countries by crossing the state border from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and from there to the Republic of Turkey.

According to the fact, operational-investigative measures are being continued in the direction of detecting and neutralizing the channel of illegal migration.
