New Delhi :

Amidst the ongoing controversy over the survey of non-government madrasas in Uttar Pradesh, NDTV on Friday spoke to the state's Minority Affairs Minister Danish Ansari.

During this, he clearly said that this survey is being conducted only for the purpose of gathering information.

We are not getting madrassas checked.

We are just gathering information, this is not an investigation.

We are assuring that we will not run bulldozers on any madrassa.

Yogi cabinet minister said, "We are conducting a survey for the betterment of madrassas. Our aim is to modernize madrasas and we are trying to do the same. People of opposition parties are creating confusion. Our intention is to modernize madrasas. Don't want to give bad name. I repeat again that we will not bulldoze any madrassa later on."

He said, "We are connecting the children of madrasas with the main stream. We are asking the question of funding to know the source of income. So that it can be known whether there is money to pay salaries to teachers or not."

Significantly, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday announced its decision to conduct a survey of unrecognized madrassas in the state to collect information on the number of teachers, syllabus and infrastructure available there.

Minister of State for Minority Affairs Danish Azad Ansari said that the state government will conduct a survey as per the requirement of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights with regard to providing basic facilities to the students in madrassas.
