AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal speaking at NDTV Townhall in Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad:

AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who arrived in Ahmedabad to campaign for his party for the Gujarat assembly elections to be held later this year, recalled his IIT-JEE success.

Comparing the rank with a student in Delhi, he said that only education can make India the best in the world.

He said, "I was ranked 563 in IIT-JEE."

Delhi CM said, "This morning in Delhi I met the son of a security guard of a government school, who has got 569th rank. His father gets a salary of ₹ 12,000 in a month. When this boy will pass from IIT and His starting salary will be ₹2 lakh per month, this will be the end of poverty for that family. If we do this for all our children, then within a generation in India every family will become rich."

Arvind Kejriwal was speaking at the NDTV townhall in Ahmedabad, where he is spending a lot of time campaigning to oust the BJP from power in the December assembly elections.

Earlier today, he was in Delhi to meet government school students who have cracked the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for the premier Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

He said, “It was an emotional moment for me, as I am a former IIT student, this country has given me a lot. And it has been my dream, that like me, all the children of India, even That the poorest of the poor get equal facilities.

He said that 1,141 students of government schools in Delhi have cleared IIT-JEE and medical entrance exam NEET this year.

The BJP, Congress and other parties opposing the AAP have said that Delhi's "free education and health model" is based on propaganda.

On allegations of corruption like an alleged scam in Delhi's liquor policy, Kejriwal said, "It is only the BJP saying... it doesn't mean much."

He said that the matter is only to target his deputy Manish Sisodia in Delhi over his success as education minister.

Challenging the BJP, he said, "Why don't they arrest Manish Sisodia? The prime minister should apologise. In this so-called corruption case, nothing has been found, nothing will be found."

The BJP yesterday showed a secretly recorded video, in which one of the accused in the FIR, also named Sisodia, claims that the Delhi government kept petty players out of its customary excise policy to help some people.

Sisodia reacted with a sarcasm, "BJP should give this so-called sting to CBI, which is anyway acting like an outside agency of the party. In the next four days i.e. till Monday, if there is any evidence, CBI should arrest me." should do."
