The national financial banking system –explained Abrantes Fouz– has been given the task of perfecting payment mechanisms, with the fundamental objective of reducing the use of cash as a means of payment and liquidating more efficient and safe services for citizens.

The director of the payment system of the Central Bank stressed that, at the end of July, there were a total of 14 million active cards in the country between Banmet, the Popular Savings Bank and the Credit and Commerce Bank.

There is evidence of a change in the payment matrix precisely due to the use of electronic channels, with an increase of 11% in total operations compared to 2021, he pointed out.

The Ministry of Communications reported that this Thursday the Central Bank of Cuba (on the evolution of payment channels) and Etecsa will present presentations, which will offer details on Transfermóvil's prospects.
