"At the point of impact, we observe a water flow of 100 m3 per second, which is a large volume. The water level of Ingulets changes every hour," said the deputy head of the presidential administration Kyrylo Tymoshenko.

According to him, the center and another district of this city of 600,000 inhabitants are "at risk of flooding".

"This is a challenge for all of us, but the situation is under control. All services are involved to eliminate the threat as quickly as possible," he added in Telegram.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who is a native of the city, earlier reported a Russian strike targeting infrastructure related to water retention and distribution that caused no casualties.
