Taliban rejects Pakistan's claim that Jaish chief Masood Azhar is in Afghanistan.

Islamabad:

The Taliban government on Wednesday denied media reports that claimed the presence of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan's Taliban government said that such terrorist organizations can operate from Pakistani soil and can even continue their work under government protection.

Reacting to the Pakistani media's claim that Jaish chief Azhar is in Afghanistan, Taliban interim government spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid strongly denied it.

Reports claimed that Pakistan has also sent a letter to Afghanistan demanding handing over of him (Masood Azhar).

"We have written a one-page letter to the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan, asking them to trace and arrest Masood Azhar," a top Pakistani Foreign Ministry official was quoted as saying on Tuesday. Because we believe that he is hiding somewhere in Afghanistan (East Nangarhar province).

Mujahid said in an interview with Afghanistan's Tolo News that he had seen the news in the media.

Mujahid said, "But, it is not true.

No one has made such a demand from us.

Mujahid said, "The Jaish-e-Mohammed chief is not in Afghanistan.

Such organizations can operate from Pakistani soil - and even under official protection.
