Yesterday, Uday Samant had revealed that in a phone call with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Maharashtra of a similar or better project.

In a series of tweets, Vedanta chief Anil Agarwal said that his company will soon include Maharashtra in its "forward strategy".

Agarwal tweeted, "Our investment in semiconductor and display glass production will create an ecosystem of industries across the country. We are committed to investing in Maharashtra. We will soon create a hub where Maharashtra will be a part of our strategy ahead." "

He wrote, “We have been assessing sites for Vedanta-Foxconn for the past two years and in talks with state governments and we look forward to continuing these conversations for the development of the country in the years to come. "

Agarwal said the company would set up a hub in Maharashtra to manufacture iPhones and other television equipment.

He further said that it will be helpful in a way for the joint plant in Gujarat.

Maharashtra's Eknath Shinde government has come under attack from the opposition after Indian conglomerate 'Vedanta' and Taiwanese electronics company 'Foxconn' announced the setting up of a Rs 1.54 lakh crore semiconductor plant in Gujarat.

Maharashtra had been lobbying for the project for seven years.

Shiv Sena leader and former minister Aaditya Thackeray had said that the project was almost finalized by the previous MVA government, but the present government has lost the confidence of potential investors.
