A customs dog sniffed undocumented cigarettes in a car leaving the country through the Danube Bridge - Ruse border crossing.

Within 72 hours, in a total of five cases - three in the area of ​​the Danube bridge - Ruse, one in the area of ​​the Danube bridge - Vidin and one case in the area of ​​the border crossing Silistra Port - Ferry Complex, customs inspectors detained a total of 76,800 pieces (3840 boxes ) cigarettes, most of which have a Bulgarian excise label.

On 06.09.2022, a team of customs officials and a customs dog carried out routine checks in the Danube Bridge - Ruse border crossing area.

Ran the dog reported the presence of tobacco products in one of the cars.

During a subsequent inspection of the car with Romanian registration, on the floor between the two rows of seats, the customs inspectors found a total of 12,400 cigarettes (620 boxes) with a Bulgarian excise label.

On the same day, during an inspection in the Danube Bridge - Vidin area, the customs officers on duty found another 18,600 pieces (930 boxes) of cigarettes with a valid Bulgarian excise label, for which the necessary documents were also presented.

The cigarettes were found in a cargo van with Bulgarian registration, in the personal luggage of the driver and hidden in factory cavities.

During two other separate inspections carried out in the area of ​​the Danube Bridge - Ruse border crossing on 09/08/2022, customs officials detained a total of 39,800 pieces (1,990 packs) of cigarettes with Bulgarian labels in two vehicles with Bulgarian registration - a car and a passenger car van traveling to Western Europe.

In one of the cases, cigarettes - 18,800 pieces (940 packs), owned by the driver, were found in factory cavities of the passenger car.

In the other case, 21,000 pieces (1,050 boxes) were found in the luggage of a passenger from the van.

Both state that they bring the cigarettes for friends and relatives.

The total amount of tobacco products with a Bulgarian excise label seized in the four cases is 70,800 pieces (3,540 packs) of cigarettes.

The three drivers and the passenger did not present the documents required by the Act on Excise and Tax Warehouses, which is why they are subject to an administrative sanction.

Again on 06.09.2022, during a customs check at the border crossing Silistra Port - Ferry Complex, 6,000 pieces (300 boxes) of cigarettes without a Bulgarian excise label were found in a truck with Iranian registration.

In this case, pre-trial proceedings have been initiated on the inventory of TD Mitnitsa Ruse.
