Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Inés María Chapman attended today the inauguration ceremony of Kenyan President-elect William Ruto.

The day before,

the deputy head held a meeting with a representation of Cuban collaborators who provide services in different regions of Kenya,

as well as officials and workers of the Embassy, ​​reported the Foreign Ministry of the Caribbean island.

The Cuban official also spoke with the president of the Parliament of the African nation, Moses Wetangula, and thanked Nairobi for its support against the United States blockade of the largest of the Antilles.

William Ruto will be the fifth president of Kenya since the proclamation of independence from Great Britain in 1963, after a long and turbulent war of liberation led by the Mau Mau movement.

Days before his proclamation, the president revealed that he will seek for Kenya to play a leading role in regional politics.
