The project will provide 100,000 new jobs and affordable housing for tens of thousands of low-income Turkish citizens.

"Today we are launching the first stage of this project, which foresees the construction of 250,000 social housing units," said the Turkish leader.

The goal of the Turkish government is to build 500,000 homes within the framework of the project between 2023 and 2028.

He specified that 50 thousand of the new homes will be intended for young people between 18 and 30 years old, 12.5 thousand - for relatives and relatives of fallen soldiers, the same number is planned for disabled people, and another 50 thousand - for pensioners.

Loans for the purchase of social housing can be repaid for a period of up to 240 months.

"The price of the three-room apartments will be 609,000 Turkish lira, and the four-room apartments are estimated at 850,000 lira," Erdogan announced (currently 18.56 Turkish lira is equal to one euro).

He specified that the right to apply for social housing is available to residents of Istanbul with an income of less than 18,000 liras, and in the other counties the income threshold is set at 16,000 liras.

At the first stage of the project, 50,000 housing units will be built in Istanbul, 18,000 in Ankara, and 12,500 in Izmir.

Erdogan noted that the project will lower real estate prices and rents and ease the population's access to housing.
