Customs officials seized nearly 100,000 textiles, perfumes, shoes and accessories suspected of infringing intellectual property rights.

The goods were discovered during customs checks at the Kapitan Andreevo customs point in August, and the quantity is a record for this year.

In the past month, 51 attempts to transfer goods with logos of protected trademarks were prevented.

The largest quantity was discovered on 18/08/2022, when a tractor with a semi-trailer with Bulgarian registration arrived at the checkpoint.

The driver, a Bulgarian citizen, has submitted regular documents for the transported goods from Turkey to France.

During the customs inspection, it was found that the goods correspond to the declared quantity, but a large part of them bear logos of protected brands.

45,409 textiles, sports shoes and bags with designations of world-famous brands were found.

In another case, on 26/08/2022, a truck with foreign registration, driven by a Polish citizen, arrived at the checkpoint.

According to the submitted documents, the truck was transporting bulk goods from Turkey to Slovakia.

The vehicle was selected for a thorough customs check, during which 11,771 textiles, 722 sports shoes and 709 bags with logos of over 20 global brands were found.

The goods have been detained in compliance with the European Regulation 608/2013 for the protection of intellectual property rights and the trademark rights holders have been informed about the cases, and some of the goods have already been confirmed to be counterfeit.
