The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, presided on Monday the inauguration of the XII Varadero Gourmet International Festival, whose days will last until next day 15 at the Plaza América Convention Center, in the sun and beach destination of the province of killings.

Also participating in the opening of the event were Mario Sabines Lorenzo, Governor of Matanzas;

Ivis Fernández Peña, delegate of the Ministry of Tourism in the province, and other political and governmental authorities of the territory.

The Varadero Gourmet 2022, with renewed gastronomic concepts, will seek to promote the principles of healthy, sustainable cuisine and food sovereignty.

The program includes conferences, exhibitions, business days and competitions.

For this first day, the launch of tasting, cooking and cocktail contests, tours of exhibition areas and a day of negotiations with businessmen and specialists linked to the marketing, management and training of beverages and food in the state and private sectors were planned.

In addition, the presentation of the conference "Ecogastronomy and agroecology: Fashion or necessity?", by Madelaine Vázquez Gálvez, from the Cuban Society for the Promotion of Renewable Energy Sources and Environmental Respect.

Among its objectives, the International Festival seeks to renew existing offers in tourist facilities, promote the exchange of experiences among connoisseurs of the sector and position Cuba as a quality destination in restaurant services, bars and canteens.

The inauguration of the 12th #VaraderoGourmet2022 Festival culminates with a speech by the Prime Minister of #Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz on the importance of the use of agroecology in the country and thanks to all those who work for quality gastronomy.
