In just four days, on Cherni Vrah Blvd. in the capital, in the direction of movement "up" towards James Boucher Blvd., with a 50 km/h limit, more than four thousand cars were detected driving at a speed between 50 - 60 km/h h., but the serious problem is that, along with them, about two thousand more are violators with a speed over 60 km/h.

This was reported by the chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council (SOC) Georgi Georgiev on his Facebook page.

The "record holder" passed with 135 km/h.

at 1:00 a.m.

There were 73 reported offenders moving at over 90 km/h.

on this section.

In the "down" direction, towards "Arsenalski" Blvd., more than 1,000 cars are moving at a speed of over 60 km/h.

This happens from the 1st to the 4th of September - on the days when a significant part of the citizens are still on vacation, Georgiev points out.

In the last 24 hours - 27 drunk and 19 drugged drivers were caught

We installed speed-measuring boards on Cherni Vrah Blvd., which show the car's speed immediately, and we send all the data (with a breakdown of the time range and the boulevards with the most violations) every week to the Traffic Police, so that they can organize more good control and to help them direct their teams to the most problematic places in Sofia, informed the chairman of the SOS.

He regrets that at the moment, according to the current regulations, the Metropolitan Municipality cannot impose penalties on speeding offenders.

"We continue to insist that the Ministry of Internal Affairs urgently purchase and install stationary cameras on the major boulevards in Sofia and organize raids to stop the "races" that harass citizens from various neighborhoods," notes Georgi Georgiev.
