Jane Barlow, a Press Association photographer, was sent to photograph the Queen as she received Liz Truss in an audience at Balmoral as the newly elected leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister.

Now the picture has become even more touching.

On it, the Queen was photographed for the last time before her death.

In an interview, Barlow talks about the moment she took the shot.

She recounts the few moments she was alone with Her Majesty.

The changes after the death of the Queen will be many and will occur in many areas

"I was sent to Balmoral to cover the Royal Company. I was there to photograph the Queen receiving the new Prime Minister and just before Liz Truss entered the hall I spent a few minutes with Her Majesty. That's when I took this picture of her," he said. Barlow, quoted by Darrick.

"When I walked into the room, along with the Queen's press secretary, Her Majesty was extremely smiley. We had to wait for Liz Truss to announce and during that time she was talking about the weather. She commented on how dark it was outside because the weather had taken a turn for the worse, it looked very good mood. She was obviously very thin, but nevertheless she was extremely radiant. She looked very happy," says the photographer.

"Liz Truss was then officially announced and entered the room, went up to Her Majesty to shake hands, and my job was obviously to capture the moment. The Queen graced Liz Truss with another of her smiles and I left the room. These were my few short minutes with Her Majesty on Tuesday," Barlow further shared.

"When I took the picture, she wasn't posing, she just looked up and smiled. And now it's even more touching because it's one of her last pictures," she added.

Barlow posted the photo on his personal Instagram account two days ago with the caption: "The Queen waits in the drawing room before receiving Liz Truss for an audience in Balmoral, Scotland, where she invited the newly elected leader of the Conservative Party to become Prime Minister and form a new government."
