In the year 2015, Himanta Biswa Sarma left the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, targeting Rahul Gandhi.

He has been a strong critic of Rahul Gandhi since then.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sarma had hit out at Rahul Gandhi and termed the Congress' 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' as the "comedy of the century".

Congress has started 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' on Wednesday.

The journey will cover 3,500 km in 150 days through 12 states and two union territories.
