Another blood donation campaign for people suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, leukemia and other blood diseases took place at the Deposit Insurance Fund on September 8 within the framework of support for the State Program "Care for children suffering from hemophilia and thalassemia" approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

According to the information given to "APA-Economics" by the Foundation, more than 100 employees of the Foundation participated in the action as voluntary donors.

The main goal of the second blood donation campaign carried out by the Foundation is to provide voluntary and free assistance to people suffering from hemophilia and thalassemia, as well as other blood diseases, especially children, as well as to increase the supply of blood for them.

Hematologists of the special medical team sent by the Central Blood Bank first took a general analysis of blood from each donor, and then conducted other medical examinations.

The collected blood will be screened and used for those suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia and other blood disorders.

Every year, hundreds of people suffering from blood diseases die due to anemia or their health deteriorates drastically.

Taking this into account, holding mass blood donation campaigns is important for the society in terms of saving the people in question.

It should be noted that currently there are more than two thousand patients suffering from thalassemia and other blood diseases in Azerbaijan, and mass blood donation campaigns are an invaluable support to save their lives.
