Rahul Gandhi said, Bharat Jodo Yatra is an attempt to compensate for the damage done by BJP-RSS

New Delhi :

Congress MP

Rahul Gandhi

on Friday indicated that he is not completely out of the race for the post of party chief.

During the Congress party's Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul said, "Whether I will become the Congress President or not, it will be clear when the party elections are held." Without giving details, he said, "I have decided. Have taken it, I am very clear, I will answer when the party elections are held."

Targeting the BJP during the conversation, the former Congress President said, "All the institutions are now under the control of the BJP and they are being used to put pressure on the opposition."

On allegations of 'Yatra being done to save Congress', he said, "BJP-RSS are free to express their opinion but we are doing this 'Yatra' to connect with the people. To understand this 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' Trying to understand what is happening at the ground level as well as trying to compensate for the damage done by BJP-RSS."

It is worth mentioning that taking responsibility for the party's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul had resigned from the post of Congress chief and since then Rahul's mother Sonia Gandhi is taking the responsibility of the post of interim president.

Tharoor and Manish Tewari, who were Union ministers, were among 23 G-23 leaders who wrote to interim president Sonia Gandhi, seeking "inclusive leadership".

Since then some leaders of 'G-23' have left the party, the latest name in this list is that of Ghulam Nabi Azad.

After leaving the Congress, senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad had targeted Rahul Gandhi in the first reaction.

He had said that Rahul does not even meet senior leaders.

He had accused of neglecting 9 years.

Also praised Congress President Sonia Gandhi but also said that she (Sonia) ignored Rahul Gandhi's mistakes.
