The Council of the European Union will make the final decision on the suspension of the simplified visa regime agreement with Russia tomorrow.

According to APA, this was reported by the diplomatic source of TASS in Brussels.

"The EU Council will consider the decision on the suspension of the visa regime on September 9," the diplomat said.

He added that the relevant political agreement was adopted at the meeting of the EU foreign ministers held in Prague on August 30-31.

On September 6, the European Commission issued a legal proposal in this regard.

Later, the decision was taken at the level of ambassadors without discussion by the EU.

It now requires formal approval by the EU Council at ministerial level for it to enter into force.
