In connection with the complicated meteorological situation as a result of the heavy rainfall in the catchment area in the village of Cherni Osam, which led to increased turbidity of the drinking water, RZI - Lovech informs the citizens of the following: According to Ordinance No. 9 of 2001 on the quality of water intended for drinking domestic purposes, water supply organizations are obliged to take all necessary measures to ensure the supply of the population with safe and clean drinking water.

The executive director of Waterworks - Lovech AD has been issued a prescription to carry out mandatory hygiene and anti-epidemic measures: mechanical washing and disinfection of water supply facilities;

increasing the amount of chlorine supplied, with the aim of enhanced water disinfection and pollution prevention;

examination of water according to organoleptic, chemical and microbiological indicators included in the indicators of group A acc.

Ordinance No. 9/2001;

reading and reflecting residual chlorine daily;

timely notification of the population in case of water quality deterioration, as well as prohibitions, restrictions and conditions for its use.

RZI checks the suitability of drinking water in Lovech

RZI - Lovech carried out control tests on indicators of group A of water at the end consumer from points in different areas of the city of Lovech, according to a monitoring program with Water and Sewerage - Lovech.

The control parameters (physico-chemical indicators: active reaction, ammonium ion, nitrates, nitrites, residual free chlorine, color, taste, odor, electrical conductivity and microbiological: coliforms, Escherichia coli) of water - drinking from a central water supply correspond to the requirements of the Ordinance No. 9/2001.

After daily monitoring in RZI - Lovech of the indicator of turbidity with indicative value, as of September 8, 2022, we can conclude that it is "acceptable to users and without significant fluctuations compared to the usual for the indicator", on the basis of Table C - indicators with indicator value, Appendix 1 of Regulation No. 9/2001.

At the moment, it is not necessary to impose bans and restrictions on the use of drinking water.
