The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,

Dmytro Lubinets

, said that the Russian side had returned the mutilated body of

Paul Ury,

a citizen of Great Britain, whose death in captivity in the occupied territory of Donetsk became known in July.

"In July, we saw statements by Russian propagandists about Uri's death "as a result of illness and stress", and today, September 7, we received a mutilated body.

The final cause of Paul Ury's death will be confirmed by a forensic medical examination, the British Embassy in Ukraine reported.

As an ombudsman, today I can say with full responsibility that such a death was violent.

A person simply cannot stand such torture.

I saw a photo of the body of the deceased and there is no doubt," wrote Lubinets in his Telegram channel.

He noted that "the killing of volunteer Paul Ury through torture is a war crime, which will be another piece of evidence during the trial of the Russian political and military leadership, evidence in the tribunal for Putin."

"The Russian Federation has once again shown its cannibalistic face to the world," noted the Ombudsman of Ukraine.
