Until the end of the year, there will be no increase in the price of gas in Serbia, as the existing quantities have already been paid, which was decided at the highest state level;

"Serbiagaz" is only a contractor in this business, stated the director of "Serbiagaz" Dushan Bayatovic, quoted by RTS.

There will be enough gas throughout the heating season, as the necessary amounts of fuel oil are provided, and some heating plants can operate on pellets, Bayatović explained.

According to him, the fact that a limitation of the price of gas supplied to Europe is being considered will not affect consumers in Serbia and they will be protected throughout the heating season, BTA adds.

Bayatovic recalled that the current Serbian gas reserves in Hungary are 360 million cubic meters and there is another 280 million in storage in Banatski Dvor.

By the end of September, certain quantities of Russian gas should arrive, which should be stipulated in contracts, Bayatovic said.

He recalled that according to the current contract with Russia, Serbia pays for natural gas at $368 per cubic meter.

For the last quarter of this year, the price will be $420, and for the first quarter of next year - $430, Bayatovic said.

"Serbiagaz" currently supplies gas to the industry at a price of 353 dollars per cubic meter, and for the population the price is slightly lower, he pointed out.

Bayatovic also said that the EU's intention to cap the price of Russian gas was an "unwise decision" from a business perspective.
