Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will start the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari today.

He had earlier visited the memorial of his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.

Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' will pass through 12 states and two union territories.

A distance of 3,570 km will be covered in this padyatra of about 150 days.

This journey will start from Kanyakumari and end in Kashmir.

Party sources said that Rahul Gandhi will also attend a program at Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam in Kanyakumari.

There Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will hand over the national flag of Khadi to him before the launch of 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'.

Thousands of Congress workers and leaders will walk for about six-seven hours every day during this Yatra.

Sources claim that Rahul Gandhi will walk from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. 

The Congress party is taking out this yatra to build public support against the central government across the country ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

During this visit, Congress can raise the issue of inflation, unemployment and decline in the economy. 

According to the Congress, this yatra will begin with a huge rally in Kanyakumari on September 7 at 5 pm.

On September 8, a padyatra will be taken out in every assembly constituency and block in the morning.

All religion prayers and other programs will also be organized. 

During the Congress's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', a distance of 3,570 km will be covered from Kanyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north in about five months.

It will pass through 12 states and two union territories.

Along with this, 'Bharat Jodo Yatras' will be taken out on a small scale in different states.
