New Delhi :

Congress's India Jodo Yatra started from Wednesday.

Former party president Rahul Gandhi is also involved in this.

Congress leader and former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh told NDTV that 118 Congress workers are involved in the yatra, of which one-third are women.

The average age of those who attended the Yatra is 38 years.

You will get to see a new Congress in the journey.

Responding to another question, Ramesh said, "If you do one thing in the country, 10 questions arise. They don't ask why they are doing it? We are doing this from the south. We are taking a journey. You asked Chandrashekhar ji. Had asked that in 1983 that why he has gone from Kanyakumari to Kashmir? Such questions are not correct. We are not looking at Bharat Jodi Yatra from electoral point of view. This is a new beginning for Indian politics, it will change. Country's oldest The party is taking out the longest journey."

He said, "Elections are held every year in our country. From Lok Sabha to Panchayat, there are elections for everything. We are a political party and we have to contest elections. For this, a strong organization is needed. The benefit of this journey is It will happen that the organization of the Congress will be strong. New energy will come in the workers. We will see the result of this in the elections of 2024. We are not going to travel jointly to India in view of the elections. There are socio-economic and political challenges before our country. Modi government's policies and This yatra is being started to fight the RSS. What will happen in the elections cannot be said from this yatra, but this yatra will bring a new spirit to the party."

Ramesh said that there are many Congress critics as well as fans in this yatra.

Those who criticized the UPA in 2012 are also associated with us.

On another question, he said, "We do not believe in the politics of revenge.

Even when we were in power, we never misused ED-CBI.

Those who used to criticize us are included in this journey.

We welcome them.

We had said that we welcome every political party in this visit. When it comes to the unity of the opposition.

If opposition unity means a weak Congress, then I deny it.

We have been in alliance for 20 years.

With those who are weakening us, that is why we are moving away from this path.

The Congress is first and the opposition's Uni is later.

The unity of the opposition will be the result of a strong Congress."

He said, "I am not watching the 2024 elections right now. I just have to see about now. How to complete this journey and how to strengthen the organization is our priority."

On the question related to the election of the party president, said that you will get the answer for the election of the president post by September 30 as it is the last day for nominations.

Elections will continue and the journey will continue.

Rahul Gandhi will walk 3570 km and 118 Congress workers will walk with him.

About Ghulam Nabi Azad, who left the Congress recently, he said that for 50 years Congress gave him everything.

He abused the Congress given to him only on top of his ability.

This is not a criticism of Congress, it reiterates their true character.

We don't silence anyone's voice, they will say whatever they have to say."
