A new rise in fuel prices could occur after the G-7 group of countries are ready to accept a price cap for Russian oil.

According to a study by the Institute for Economic Research, the reduction of excise duties on fuels in Germany this summer did not lead to lower prices at gas stations.

According to Dimitar Hadjidimitrov from the Association of Bulgarian traders, producers, importers and transporters of fuels, fuel prices in our country have calmed down, especially gasoline, which in many places is already below BGN 3.

Average 4% drop in the price of fuel in our country, only methane is growing

"I expect to see prices between BGN 3 and BGN 3.10 in many of the places in the big chains within 3 weeks at the most, with the discount from the state we will see prices of BGN 2.80-2.85. There is a greater discrepancy between prices for diesel fuel. This is due to the high price of methane," he commented to Bulgaria ON AIR.

The guest of "Bulgaria in the morning" pointed out that gasoline is mostly used throughout Europe, and its demand in summer time is much higher than that of diesel.

Therefore, international prices were much higher.

"Within 2-3 weeks, gasoline fell by more than 300 dollars. Over time, this will also affect the columns at our gas stations. The statistics for the past year - diesel consumption decreased by 40%, gasoline by more than 45%. At methane, the drop in consumption is over 80%," Hadjidimitrov emphasized.

According to him, the measure with a 25 percent discount per liter of fuel was populist and did not particularly help people with less financial means.

"We tried to convince them that it was not right to give this discount. Then we thought of options on how to give it in the easiest way to be accounted for by our sites. There was no way to calculate whether the person has or does not have financial capabilities "By the end of the year, many people will benefit from this discount. The NRA is doing a lot of checks," Hadjidimitrov said.

He assured that all the companies that gave the discount, then received their sums if they had no obligations to the NRA.

And the danger of bankruptcies of gas stations has passed, since "there is a tolerable profit threshold" that is self-sufficient to survive and stay on the market.

The guest is of the opinion that the possible introduction of a ceiling on fuel prices will lead to market distortion and will not be a workable measure.

"Over BGN 6 is the price of methane, which is unsaleable. Over 60% of the colleagues in Sofia stopped selling methane to the columns, because the fines to the suppliers became huge. This bubble will burst. At this stage, gas cylinders are a solution," he pointed out Dimitar Hadjidimitrov.

Finally, he assured that there is no compromise on the quality of the fuels, as the fines are serious and the inspections are regular.
