Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi was received in a meeting in Prague by the Minister for European Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mikulas Bek, with whom he discussed the European future and common challenges.

Bislimi said that this is an important and ambitious year in the European agenda, as Kosovo has applied for membership in the Council of Europe and expects positive developments in the issue of visa liberalization, for which it has fulfilled all the conditions.

Also, he informed Minister Bek about Kosovo's intention to apply for membership in the EU within this year, after 6 years of the journey in the implementation of important documents such as the Association Stabilization Agreement and the European Reform Agenda.

Bislimi also spoke about the objectives for employment and justice and the progress that Kosovo has seen during the Kurti Government.

"Positive developments, where democracies are the ones that win, should always be encouraged", said Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi, where he also singled out free public education at the university level and economic recovery packages to cope with the effects of the pandemic and those from the war in Ukraine.

There was also talk about coping with the energy crisis as a common challenge of countries on the European continent, where the goal of transitioning to green and renewable energy was highlighted.

Regarding the issue of dialogue, it was emphasized that the Government of Kosovo remains committed to the general framework of the legally binding agreement, which brings full normalization of relations and is centered on mutual recognition.

Otherwise, the Czech Republic presides over the Presidency of the Council of the EU.
