The US announced today that it will test an ICBM tomorrow.

The advance notification of such a missile test is very unusual, but aims to avoid any worsening of tensions with Russia at the height of the conflict in Ukraine, notes AFP, quoted by BTA.

"This test of an unarmed Minuteman Three missile will be tomorrow morning, September 7, from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California," Pentagon spokesman General Pat Ryder said.

"This is a routine test that has been planned for a long time and which, like previous tests, will validate and verify the effectiveness and readiness of our system," he said, adding that the US had informed Russia about the test in advance.

The country does not usually report ICBM tests.

The last test of a missile of this type, equipped with a warhead that could also carry a nuclear bomb in wartime, was postponed twice.

Scheduled for March, it was postponed first because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Washington feared that Moscow would use this simple experience to expand the conflict to other countries.

For the second time, the trial was postponed at the beginning of August after the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the American Congress, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan.

Finally, the test was successfully carried out on August 16.
