In the last three years, the number of cases reported to the Kosovo Police for domestic violence has increased significantly.

The cities with the largest number are Prishtina and Peja.

This was announced during the awareness campaign against domestic violence, which was organized this Tuesday in "Zahir Pajaziti" square in Pristina by the Center for Legal Aid and Regional Development (CLARD), the Kosovo Institute for Justice (IKD) and the Center Advocate for Democratic Culture (ACDC).

This campaign was organized within the project "Education against domestic violence and sexual harassment", a project supported by the US Department of State - Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

Ehat Miftaraj from IKD told the media that the campaign aims to activism against domestic violence, to identify the challenges of citizens in approaching the justice system and to inform them about their rights, and how they can access justice mechanisms and seek free legal aid.

"Despite numerous campaigns, unfortunately we still do not have institutional coordination.

Judges, prosecutors and Kosovo Police are still not able to realize the rights of citizens.

In the last three years, we have a trend of increasing cases of domestic violence.

Prishtina and Peja lead the regions", he said, reports Telegrafi.

Anton Ndrecaj from CLARD also said that there is an increase in cases of domestic violence.

He announced that only in the first six months of this year, 1,300 cases were reported.

"From January to June, over 1,300 cases of domestic violence were reported.

Whereas, all last year there were a total of 1,900 reported cases.

So there is an increase in the number", declared Ndrecaj.
