One of two brothers wanted on suspicion of carrying out a series of stabbings that killed 10 people and injured 18 has been found dead, police in Saskatchewan, Canada, said.

Assistant Police Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore told a press conference that "the body of Damien Sanderson was found in a heavily grassed area near a house that was the focus of authorities" and had "visible injuries".

She said the wounds did not appear to have been caused by Sanderson himself.

His brother, Miles Sanderson, remains at large, she added.

He may also be injured and is seeking medical attention, the police assume, writes bg-voice.

Bloody horror: More than 10 killed and injured in attack in Canada

"We cannot confirm that he is injured, but we have strong reasons to believe that he is," Blackmore said.

She emphasized that even if Miles Sanderson is injured, that doesn't mean he isn't dangerous.

He has a long criminal record, including crimes against both the person and property.

The attacks in Saskatchewan are among the deadliest in modern Canadian history.

On Sunday, the attackers stabbed 13 different locations in an indigenous community and in the neighboring province.

A statement from indigenous leaders said the attacks may have been drug-related.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the mass violence he said had become "all too common" after 10 people were killed and 18 injured in knife attacks in Saskatchewan.

"Yesterday's attacks in Saskatchewan are shocking and heartbreaking," he said in a video address in Ottawa as the search continued for two suspects.

"This kind of violence has no place in our country."

In the words of the Prime Minister, "unfortunately, in recent years tragedies like these have become too common".
