Three documents marked as confidential and seven "top secret" were seized in the personal office of former President Donald Trump

(2017-2021) at his Mar-a-Lago residence, the United States Department of Justice reported today.

According to the inventory, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents found 43 empty folders with classified labels, and another 28 labeled "return to secretary of personnel/military aide."

In the former president's office there were also 17 files considered secret, indicate the records revealed by order of a federal judge.

The report offers few new details about the classified material stored at the Palm Beach, Florida, mansion, but sheds light on the extent to which the classified material was commingled with Trump's personal belongings

.

Keeping the files in the Republican's office, rather than in the storage room at Mar-a-Lago,

could undermine potential claims that staff were unaware of the extent of the classified documents kept on the property

, it adds. the report.

On August 8, the FBI raided the New York tycoon's property after obtaining a search warrant on suspicion that the former president violated the Espionage Act and committed other crimes such as obstruction of justice and criminal handling of government records.

Trump filed a motion to appoint an independent attorney to monitor the correct compliance with judicial procedures during the review of the materials and demanded the return of any objects outside the scope of the order.

In the document, considered an attempt to block the examination of the seized files, the Republican alleges that the search was politically motivated and considers it inadmissible that those interests affect the administration of justice.

The FBI seized more than 100 classified government documents during the search at Mar-a-Lago, the same club where members and guests congregated for entertainment and which received questions about the level of security.
