The Union of Health Workers of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo announced on Friday with concern that it has received complaints from nurses regarding some orders issued by the directorate of SHSKUK/QKUK and that it feels very disappointed with the treatment of nurses in some of these points ordinances.

In their response, it is stated that, being well informed with the very small number of nursing staff in the KKUK, the overload of work, as well as witnessing the growing trend of nurses leaving, they consider that such an action and the ordinance only increase the workload of nurses and contribute to the trend of attrition.

"The Union of Health Workers of the KKUK requests from the SHSKUK/ KKUK that the additional duties assigned to nurses based on these ordinances such as: Being charged with the responsibility of supplying herbs during the weekends, not being a duty and not being compensated for this responsibility, calling the doctor for clinic cases, even though the same should be at work according to the contract and responsibility without the need for an invitation, the identification and monitoring of the civil parties or even their removal from the clinic premises and keeping evidence of entrances and exits from the patients' rooms, where in fact the nurse receives different treatment because the doctors are not obliged to apply the same", says the reaction.

According to them, these jobs and responsibilities indirectly alienate the nature of the nurse's activity, even among these ordinances there are discrimination tendencies.

All of these, the Union of Health Workers of KKUK wants to be reconsidered, while instead of these ordinances, KKUK should engage in easing the burden that nurses currently carry, either through the acceptance of a larger number of nurses.

"We expect the Directorate of SHSKUK/QKUK to reflect and take these requests into consideration in order to avoid union actions and measures", the reaction continues.
