Recently, a video related to the elephant 'Jamalaytha' became quite viral on social media.

In which he was allegedly being tortured in a temple.

After the video surfaced, the Assam government has now swung into action and formed a team of forest, veterinary and police officers.

Which will go to Tamil Nadu to investigate the matter.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave this information by tweeting.

We are against any form of cruelty to animals.

Hence, reports of ill-treatment to Joymala, an elephant from Assam, in Tamil Nadu have pained us.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted and wrote, We are against any kind of cruelty to animals.

Therefore, the news of misbehavior of an Assam elephant 'Jaimalayatha' in Tamil Nadu has pained us.

To discuss the matter, a meeting was held with the officials of the Forest Department in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Forests.

In another tweet, the Chief Minister wrote that a 4-member team was formed comprising forest, veterinary and police officers.

The team will visit Tamil Nadu on September 2 and discuss the matter with forest department officials there, inspect the elephant and pave the way for its return to Assam.

Actually People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) shared the video of Hathini Jamalayatha on 26 August.

Which belonged to a temple in Tamil Nadu.

In the video, the Mahavat was torturing the elephant Jaimalaytha badly.

While tweeting the video, PETA had written, Hathini Jaimalatha is being persecuted continuously and this time her skin is being plucked with PLAS.
