Romania wants to buy Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAV) from Turkey.

It is about the aircraft that gained popularity due to the destruction of Russian military equipment in the war in Ukraine.

According to media reports, the country wants about 18 such UCAVs at an estimated price of $300 million.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has sent a request to the Parliament for this purpose, reports say, and if it receives legislative approval, it will be able to start negotiations with the Turkish company Baykar.

Currently, Romania has no modern combat drones in its inventory.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the estimated amount for the sale includes the purchase of 18 drones and "the initial package of logistical support and specific training and exercise equipment".

The price of Bayraktar TB2 drones varies depending on the equipment, ranging from $1 million to $5 million, according to sources specializing in defense products.
